Mott-FS (SD)

Drives

There are two drives for SD use, one is personal and private to your user account and one is shared and accessible between the whole group.

 

Step One - Adding your credentials into Windows

(Windows 7 & Vista)

  1. Click Start and open the Control Panel
  2. Open User Accounts
  3. Click on Manage your credentials
  4. Click on Add a Windows credential
  5. Enter mott-fs.mott.phy.private.cam.ac.uk as the address
  6. Enter mott\CRSid as the username
  7. Enter your own domain password


(Windows XP)

  1. Click Start and open the Control Panel
  2. Open User Accounts
  3. Click on the Advanced tab at the top
  4. Click on Manage Passwords
  5. Click Add
  6. Enter mott-fs.mott.phy.private.cam.ac.uk as the server
  7. Enter mott\CRSid as the username
  8. Enter your own domain password

 

Step Two - Mapping the drives

  1. Open a command prompt in Windows
  2. Copy and paste the code below replacing 'CRSid' with your own Mott domain user account
Please note that the g and h letters below are examples and can be changed if taken up by existing devices


net use h: \\mott-fs.mott.phy.private.cam.ac.uk\CRSid

net use g: \\mott-fs.mott.phy.private.cam.ac.uk\sd\

 

 

 

Printers

There is one printer available to the SD group.

Make & Model: Brother 5350DN
Duplexing: Yes
IP Address: 172.24.108.40

 

Printer Drivers

(Windows 7 & Vista)

  1. Click on Start and Devices and Printers
  2. Click Add a printer and then Add a local printer
  3. Select Create a new port and choose Standard TCP/IP Port from the dropdown
  4. Add the IP Address of the printer
  5. Allow Windows to query the printer and install the correct driver automatically
  6. Once complete, remember to change the default paper size to A$ from Letter

 

(Windows XP)

  1. Click Start and Printers and Faxes
  2. Click Add a printer, choose Local printer attached to this computer and untick the box marked Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer
  3. Click Next the select Create a new port and choose Standard TCP/IP Port from the dropdown
  4. Add the IP Address of the printer
  5. When requested, select Have disk... and enter \\spd.sp.phy.cam.ac.uk\apps\Printer_Drivers\Brother_5350dn\eng\PS\win2kxpvista, then select the driver and when prompted, choose the Brother HL-5350DN BR-Script3 model
  6. Once finished remember to change the default paper from Letter to A4
