Mott-FS (SMF)

Drives

There are two drives for SMF use, one is personal and private to your user account and one is shared and accessible between the whole group.

 

Step One - Adding your credentials into Windows

(Windows 7 & Vista)

  1. Click Start and open the Control Panel
  2. Open User Accounts
  3. Click on Manage your credentials
  4. Click on Add a Windows credential
  5. Enter mott-fs.mott.phy.private.cam.ac.uk as the address
  6. Enter mott\CRSid as the username
  7. Enter your own domain password


(Windows XP)

  1. Click Start and open the Control Panel
  2. Open User Accounts
  3. Click on the Advanced tab at the top
  4. Click on Manage Passwords
  5. Click Add
  6. Enter mott-fs.mott.phy.private.cam.ac.uk as the server
  7. Enter mott\CRSid as the username
  8. Enter your own domain password

 

Step Two - Mapping the drives

  1. Open a command prompt in Windows
  2. Copy and paste the code below replacing 'CRSid' with your own Mott domain user account
Please note that the g and h letters below are examples and can be changed if taken up by existing devices


net use h: \\mott-fs.mott.phy.private.cam.ac.uk\smf\CRSid

net use g: \\mott-fs.mott.phy.private.cam.ac.uk\smf\

 

 

 

Printers

There are five printers available to the SMF group, 2 colour and 3 mono.

 

Mono Printers

Mono One

Location: 318 (Fracture)
Make & Model: HP LaserJet 4100dtn
Duplexing: Yes
IP Address: 131.111.72.77


Mono Two

Location: M12 (SMF pigeon holes)
Make & Model: HP LaserJet 4100n
Duplexing: Yes
IP Address: 172.24.108.1


Mono Three

Location: 413
Make & Model: HP LaserJet P3015
Duplexing: Yes
IP Address: 172.24.108.42

 

Colour Printers

Colour One

Location: M12 (SMF pigeon holes)
Make & Model: HP LaserJet CP3525
Duplexing: Yes
IP Address: 172.24.108.16


Colour Two

Location: 427
Make & Model: HP OfficeJet Pro 8000
Duplexing: Yes
IP Address: 172.24.108.10

 

Printer Drivers

  1. Install the HP Universal Print Driver (press Windows-R and cut and paste "\\spd.sp.phy.cam.ac.uk\apps\Printer_Drivers\HP_Universal_Printer_Driver\install.exe" into the selection, then press OK)
  2. Select the Dynamic Mode
  3. Once finished, open the Control Panel and run the Printers icon
  4. Right-click the HP Universal Printing PS printer and select Printer Properties
  5. Click Enter a Printer Address...
  6. Enter the IP Address of a printer you want installed
